Justin Trudeau Arrived in Ukraine

On May 8, the prime minister of Canada opened the Canadian Embassy in Kyiv and visited Irpin

On May 8, Justin Truault paid a diplomatic visit to the capital of Ukraine, and also visited the city that survived the horrors of Russian occupation — Irpin. In Kyiv, Trudeau took part in the resumption of the work of the Canadian embassy in Ukraine, whose work was put on hold due to the Russian attack. Trudeau also raised the Canadian flag over the embassy.

"He came to Irpen to see with his own eyes all the horror that the Russian invaders did to our city. And, of course, he was shocked. After all, he saw not military facilities burned and completely destroyed, but the houses of the Irpen people, who until recently enjoyed life and had their own plans for the future", mayor of Irpin Olexandr Markushin.

He thanked Trudeau for Canada's support for Ukraine and expressed hope for further cooperation, particularly on the restoration of Ukrainian cities.

"I hope for the support of Mr. Justin Trudeau in organizing the efforts of the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada to restore infrastructure facilities in Irpin. Irpin will contact the relevant official letters shortly," Olexandr Markushin.

A journalist from Canada, Paul Workman, wrote on Twitter that Justin Trudeau spent the whole day with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the flag-raising ceremony over the embassy was in the presence of the President of Ukraine. Also with the Prime Minister was the deputy prime minister of Canada Chrystia Freeland.
