Prime minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal briefly announced the results of negotiations with Portuguese president Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa on August 23. On this day, the president of Portugal arrived in Ukraine for the first time. The main topic of the talks was mutually beneficial cooperation between the states, as well as assistance to Portugal in the restoration of post-war Ukraine. The parties agreed on the importance of implementing the Ukraine Facility initiative, which is one of the many symbols of support for Ukraine from the EU countries. PM Shmyhal thanked Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and his people for their help and participation.
President de Sousa said that Portugal is ready to share with Ukraine its experience in reformation on the way to joining the European Union. These tools will be discussed at the forthcoming Joint commission on economic cooperation. The president also noted that Portuguese specialists would join the restoration of Ukraine's infrastructure after the war.
