On October 22 at 7 a. m. Russia launched a missile attack on Ukraine. The following regions were affected: Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Odesa, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kropivnitskyy, Lviv and, for the first time, Chernivtsi. These areas have temporarily imposed energy restrictions as energy infrastructure has been damaged.
Missiles hit the cities' power supply facilities in the Khmelnitskyy, Odesa, Volyn and Rivne regions. Missiles also flew into the Chernivtsi and Lviv regions: Ukrainian air defence systems destroyed the missiles in flight. There were no casualties.
Kyiv region and Kyiv. Cruise missiles were sent to the capital and the region. Air defence destroyed them. There were no casualties.
Mykolaiv region. 10 kamikaze drones flew to the cities. They were destroyed by air defence. There were no casualties.
Chernihiv and Sumy regions. 2 enemy missiles were shot down over the regions: 1 with the help of air defence, the 2nd from a fighter aircraft.
Where did the attacks come from? According to the military commands of Ukraine, the attacks on October 22 were carried out from the territory of the Rostov region of Russia with the help of at least 10 Tu-160 and Tu-95 aircraft. This morning, the Russians used 17 Kh-101 (Kh-555) cruise missiles against the Ukrainians. Also, attacks were carried out from the Black Sea: 16 launches of Caliber cruise missiles.
Residents of the affected cities are asked to stock up on water because after power outages, the water supply may also be lost.
