Largest British Deployment of the 1980s

This is the UK's most influential military deployment in decades. Over the next 5 months, 8,000 troops will be deployed on exercises across Europe to "demonstrate the scale and value of the British Army's contribution to the defense of Europe." The British Ministry of defense reports this. The soldiers will be accompanied by dozens of tanks and armored fighting vehicles, which will be deployed throughout Europe. Also joining the armed forces of Britain are NATO partners and colleagues in the joint expeditionary forces from Denmark, Iceland, and Norway.

"The planned exercise will enhance the ability of British and Finnish forces to work together to deter Russian aggression in Scandinavia and the Baltics," Ben Wallace, UK secretary of defense.

The last time such a deployment of military forces occurred during the Cold War.
