The Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this visit on their Twitter (X) account.
Upon her arrival, Braže was welcomed by Ukraine's Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, at Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv, where they paid tribute to the victims of the war initiated by Russia.
"The decision to visit Ukraine as her first bilateral foreign visit underscores the importance Latvia places on supporting Ukraine, highlighting it as a priority in Latvia's foreign policy," stated the tweet.
Recall that Baiba Braže, a seasoned diplomat with 31 years at Latvia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was confirmed as the Foreign Minister during an extraordinary session of the Latvian Diet on April 19. Braže's appointment came after the resignation of former minister Kristianis Karinš, who stepped down amid controversies over the use of special flights.
