On 24 February 2022, the Russian Federation began full-scale military actions on the territory of Ukraine, calling its crimes a particular operation. The "rescue mission" was based on the elimination of nazi authorities and weapons in Ukraine.
While Ukrainians and Europeans were calling on Russia to stop, talking about freedom of speech and choice, the absence of dictatorship, and fascism in the country, Russians decided to change the reason for the invasion.
Russian officials announced the existence of NATO military bases and bio-laboratories in Ukraine. According to the new version, the Ukrainians, together with the Americans, wanted to destroy the Slavic people. The representatives of the aggressor country tried to declare the terrible viruses found in Ukraine, laboratories for the development of coronavirus, etc. Also, Russian propaganda and the most famous politicians (e.g., president of Belarus Oleksandr Lukashenko) said that the Ukrainians wanted to attack Russia and Belarus.
But even this attempt to justify aggression against the Ukrainian people was not true. Ukraine was never going to attack neighboring countries, especially Russia. This was stated by the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The existence of bio-laboratories in the territory of an independent country was denied by the United Nations for lack of evidence.
The Russian government also tried to call the war in Ukraine a rescue of Russian-speaking Ukrainians. A week later, the Russian media was already talking about nuclear weapons that were invented in Ukraine. There is no evidence to support such claims today.
On 30 April, the Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov cited a new reason for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. He said that the "collective West" was interfering with the natural course of history. Sergey Lavrov also justified the killing of civilians and the hundreds of destroyed buildings by Russian soldiers. According to him, such an operation is necessary to "defend the freedom of choice for the countries of Asia, Africa, Latin America". What exactly Lavrov meant is unknown.
