Lithuania Supports Ukraine’s Membership in NATO

On March 7, a meeting was held between the MoD of Lithuania and a representative of the MoD of Ukraine

On March 7, deputy minister of defence of Ukraine lieutenant general Oleksandr Pavlyuk arrived in Vilnius. The purpose of the visit is negotiations with the minister of defence of Lithuania Arvydas Anusauskas. Minister Anusauskas declared a "firm position on supporting Ukraine in all possible ways" and added that his country is currently working on another military package for Ukraine.

As of today, Ukraine has received military aid from Lithuania for €409 million, which includes equipment and training for our soldiers.

"A large part of Lithuania's aid to Ukraine is military training. It is planned to train 1.600 soldiers this year. Lithuanian instructors train Ukrainians both at the national level, in Lithuania, and within the framework of the EU training mission and international initiatives such as Interflex. It is also planned to develop a demining course in Lithuania in cooperation with the countries of Northern Europe," Arvydas Anusauskas.

The NATO summit will be held in Vilnius this summer. Mr Anusauskas emphasised that his department will support Ukraine's candidacy as a prospective member of the Alliance.
