Lithuania to Boost Support for Ukraine in Weapon Production: Zelensky and Nausėda Meeting Results

Lithuania is set to enhance its support for Ukraine in the production of weapons, including long-range drones, as discussed in a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda on September 12

The two leaders focused on Ukraine’s defense needs and the situation at the front lines, specifically in Pokrovsky, Toretsky, and Vuhledarsky areas. Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine’s defense is crucial not only for its own sovereignty but also for the security of neighboring countries and Europe as a whole.

The meeting also addressed defense cooperation, including investments in Ukraine’s drone production and co-production of military equipment. Nausėda confirmed that Lithuania is prepared to increase its support in these areas and continue supplying 155 mm ammunition to Ukraine.

"Lithuania is investing €10 million in the production of Ukrainian long-range weapons 'Palyanytsia'," Nausėda stated, adding that the two countries are exploring cooperation on the production of naval drones. He also urged NATO allies to supply Ukraine with long-range missiles, fighter jets, and air defense systems, and to lift restrictions on strikes against Russian military targets.

The talks reflect Lithuania's commitment to bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities and contributing to the broader effort of ensuring security in Europe.
