On March 29, the Macedonian government announced the conclusion of a Protocol on the free transfer of helicopters from the balance of the Ministry of defence of North Macedonia to the balance of the Ministry of defence of Ukraine. The aircraft were manufactured in Russia and purchased from Ukraine in 2001. For more than 8 years, the aircraft have not been used because they lack some spare parts.
"Some of them have been modernised — that is 2, but this modernisation was adapted to those conditions then and absolutely does not correspond to what is needed now, even if we want to talk about the development of technologies," Macedonian defence minister Slavyanka Petrovska.
Preliminarily, in a batch of 12 Mi-24s being prepared for transfer, 2 are ready for use, and the rest will be completed in Ukraine.
