Today, Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part online in the European Idea international symposium and put forward several ideas to get rid of Russian energy blackmail.
"This year, Europe is finally implementing the energy disarmament of Russia. The continent's dependence on Russian energy resources has begun to decrease. And it should completely disappear. And one of the key tools is to limit Russian earnings from the export of resources," Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The president focused the listeners' attention on the fact that the world community had already begun discussions on limiting the price of oil. However, the price that is expected today is not able to influence Putin's actions.
"And there are words about the alleged level of $60 or $70. Of course, such words are a giveaway. It looks more like an attempt to depict something rather than do something," the president added.
"A price cap of up to $30 per barrel seems like a more correct proposal, and I thank (Poland and the Baltic countries — ed.) that such a proposal was made and defended. Now is the time to ensure that Europe achieves this. And based on this and other such achievements, none of the potential enemies of Europe will be able to blackmail our continent with energy weapons anymore," Zelenskyy.
According to the president, the introduction of restrictive measures on the energy resources of the aggressor country will become the basis for the resumption of international relations based on cooperation and solidarity.
"There is no Ukraine separate from Europe, just as there is no Poland or Lithuania or Romania or Latvia or Germany or France separate from Europe. This is our continent. This is our life. And this is our path that we can endure. Just as this winter and this war. All Europeans together."
