MFA of Ukraine Met With the PM of Cambodia

Ukraine is the first Central European country to join the "Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia"

On November 9, minister of foreign affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba arrived in the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, and held a meeting with the country's prime minister Samdech Hun Sen. Previously, the parties had telephone negotiations and agreements, which will be officially confirmed today.

"During the meeting, we discussed the provision of demining equipment and the training of Ukrainian sappers by Cambodian specialists, increasing trade volumes, digital transformation, cooperation in the field of education and food security. Shortly, Ukraine and Cambodia will exchange ambassadors (on a part-time basis) to have a permanent channel of communication," Dmytro Kuleba.

For the first time in the entire history of our country, Ukraine was invited to participate in the meeting of ASEAN leaders: Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines. Ukraine will become the first European country to join the fundamental document of the Association — the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.

Cooperation with Cambodia is a powerful start to the development of Ukraine's Asian strategy. This country takes a clear pro-Ukrainian position and will become a reliable partner in bilateral cooperation in the fields of technology and trade.
