The fuel is produced entirely from poultry manure and agricultural waste, marking a major milestone in both sustainable agriculture and green energy logistics.
Why This Is a Game-Changer
MHP’s liquefied biomethane is:
-
ISCC EU certified
-
Compliant with EU RED II/III sustainability criteria
-
Produced locally from 100% agricultural byproducts
This not only strengthens Ukraine’s position in the EU’s renewable energy market but also reinforces the country’s ability to compete with global bioenergy exporters.
First Shipment: A New Export Model
Unlike previous biomethane exports, which flowed through the stationary gas transportation system, the new Bio-LNG is being delivered via specialized tankers. This logistical breakthrough expands export capabilities and reduces infrastructure dependency.
Ukraine’s Energy Customs Service enabled the shipment using the simplified common transit system (NCTS Phase 5). This allows goods to pass through all EU transit countries under a single document—with no delays at each border—saving time and costs.
“We’ve invested in biogas infrastructure for over a decade. Bio-LNG is our next step in making Ukraine a renewable energy hub,” said MHP representatives.
MHP: From Chicken to Clean Energy
As Ukraine’s largest poultry producer, MHP manages the entire production chain—from grain cultivation to poultry processing—and is now turning agricultural waste into energy.
The company:
-
Has one of the largest biogas portfolios in Europe
-
Is now pioneering Bio-LNG production and exports
-
Proves that agribusiness can drive both economic growth and energy sustainability
Why It Matters for Ukraine
This move:
-
Diversifies Ukraine’s export portfolio
-
Strengthens EU ties through green energy cooperation
-
Opens the door for foreign investment in Ukraine’s bioenergy sector
MHP’s success with Bio-LNG shows that Ukrainian agritech and renewable energy are no longer “emerging” — they’re ready to lead the region into a cleaner future.
