Lithuanian defence minister Arvydas Anusauskas announced the forthcoming military assistance package for Ukraine's counteroffensive: 2 NASAMS air defence systems and medium-range projectiles. These installations will complement the defensive structure along with those NASAMS that Norway and the United States gave us earlier.
According to the minister, the contract for the production of air defence systems for Ukraine cost Lithuania €9.8 million.
Also, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive 10 M113 armoured personnel carriers; thus, there will be 72 Lithuanian M113s in Ukraine. In the near future, thousands of anti-tank ammunition for grenade launchers will go to the front.
The total military and humanitarian aid of Lithuania during the full-scale war in Ukraine is approaching €500 million. Lithuania is a small country with a population of almost 16 times less than Ukraine. And they provide our army with assistance exceeding 1% of GDP. This is what true fraternal peoples are. Ukraine will never forget the sacrifice of these wonderful people.
