Ministers of Finance of Ukraine and Cyprus have signed a Protocol on the directions and conditions of cooperation

According to the digital portal of the Parliament of Ukraine, 65 parliamentarians from both countries took part in the online conference on April 22. They discussed mutually interesting topics: trade and economic cooperation, business development and investment, cooperation in the field of agriculture. Both sides confirmed their willingness to cooperate and agreed to hold the third meeting.

“An additional impetus for the development of bilateral relations was the ratification by Ukraine in 2019 of one of the most important documents – the Protocol amending the Convention between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of tax evasion”, – said Serhiy Marchenko, the Minister of finances of Ukraine.

Konstantinos Petridis, Cyprus Ministry of Finance, noted the importance of strengthening international cooperation and named the priority area for the development of Ukraine and Cyprus in 2021 – increasing the competitiveness of the economies of both countries through the green and digital transition.

“We need to expand the mechanisms of cooperation between the two countries in order to exchange experiences. Today's meeting of the commission on economic, scientific, technical and industrial cooperation is a necessary tool for achieving results in the areas defined by the protocol”, – commented Konstantinos Petridis.

The first meeting was held in 2013 and, according to Sergei Marchenko, over the past 7 years of cooperation, a huge amount of work has been done on the basis of the legal framework of Ukraine and Cyprus.
