Ministry of Defense Receives Domestic Block-Modular Transportable Boilers

The Ukrainian defense sector has received a 12 MW block-modular transportable boiler (KM-2-12000-T/Gs.) from the domestic boiler manufacturer Kolvi

This equipment will support the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, highlighting the growing importance of distributed heat supply for national energy resilience and infrastructure needs.

1. Key Details

  1. Nominal Heat Output:
    - The transferred boiler equipment features a 12 MW capacity.

  2. Rapid Implementation:
    - Only one month elapsed between laying the foundation and delivery of the boiler to its installation site.

  3. Distributed Heat Supply:
    - Reduces reliance on large-diameter heating mains and lowers heat carrier losses.
    - Enhances energy security by speeding up the restoration of heat supply after damage to centralized systems.

2. System Configuration

  • Containers:
    - Five transportable containers, each housing KOLVI 4000 KE boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Capacity:
    - Capable of heating premises of up to 150,000 m².
  • Automation:
    - Designed for automatic operation without continuous on-site personnel.

3. Significance for Energy Security

  • Decentralized Heating:
    - Serves as a key element of Ukraine’s energy resilience—particularly as critical infrastructure faces ongoing threats from enemy strikes.
  • Faster Recovery:
    - Distributed generation ensures quick restoration of heat supply after localized damage.
  • Lower Energy Losses:
    - Minimizing heat carrier losses by eliminating long, large-diameter networks helps conserve natural gas, especially during imports.

4. Installation and Readiness

  • Foundation and Setup:
    - The block-modular design requires only a strip foundation made of monolithic concrete.
    - Once placed, one to two days are needed to prepare the boiler for full operation.
  • CEO Statement:
    - Oleksandr Kroshka, CEO of TM Kolvi, emphasized the “rapid readiness” aspect, crucial in emergency scenarios and defense-related infrastructure.

By implementing transportable, automated boilers, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense significantly boosts energy sustainability in critical facilities. This project, executed in record time, demonstrates the capability of Ukrainian manufacturers to deliver robust, decentralized heating solutions under challenging conditions.
