Communities in Ukraine’s Mykolaiv region will receive more than forty million euros from Sweden and Denmark for infrastructure recovery. The agreements were signed during the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdansk and focus on essential municipal services.
The funding will support energy efficiency, renewable generation, modernization of water and heat supply, street lighting and other local projects. These investments are intended to improve daily services while reducing the vulnerability of community infrastructure.
Projects across the region
NEFCO will co-finance initiatives in the Bashtanka, Novyi Buh, Kobleve, Pervomaisk, Voznesensk, Pivdennoukrainsk and Mykolaiv communities. The portfolio allows different municipalities to address their most urgent technical needs rather than relying on one centralized project.
For the region, grants are especially valuable because utilities require large capital investment but cannot shift the full cost onto residents. Modern pumps, insulation, efficient heating, distributed energy and upgraded lighting can lower operating expenses and improve reliability.
The agreements also complement two energy-efficiency and electric-transport projects previously arranged between Mykolaiv city and NEFCO. Together, they create a broader recovery model linking international finance with practical local implementation.
Reliable water, heat and electricity are central to the return of residents and businesses. If the projects move from memoranda to construction on schedule, communities will gain both better services and stronger resilience against future disruptions.
