On June 18, the first day of negotiations between the USA and China ended, represented by Antony Blinken and the minister of foreign affairs of China Qin Gang. The main topics of the talks are US-China relations.
"The secretary emphasised the importance of diplomacy and maintaining open channels of communication across the full range of issues to reduce the risk of misperception and miscalculation," the USA spokesperson Matthew Miller.
Blinken candidly identified issues of concern to the United States and identified transnational areas in which the United States and China share common interests. The minister emphasised that "the United States will always stand up for the interests and values of the American people and work with its allies and partners to advance our vision for a world that is free, open, and upholds the international rules-based order."
In turn, Qin Gang supported his colleague and agreed with the importance of mutual understanding and multifaceted exchange between states. Minister Gang also accepted the offer to visit Washington and choose a convenient time for each party.
Today, June 19, Antony Blinken will continue diplomatic meetings in Beijing.
