According to the Public Health Centre of Ukraine, about 65% of the population does not know acute viral diseases are not treated with antibiotics.
"In April, antibiotics registered in Ukraine will be dispensed in pharmacies only if the patient has an electronic prescription. The launch of the electronic recipe will solve the problem of uncontrolled and unwanted use of drugs, and above all — help to prevent the development of resistance to antimicrobial preparations," said Viktor Liashko, minister of health of Ukraine.
To get a prescription for antibiotics, it is not necessary to sign a declaration with a family doctor. Still, all three participants of antibiotics (doctor, patient, and pharmacy) are obliged to be registered on the electronic health portal of Ukraine.
"Only a doctor can prescribe an antibiotic. The drug will be prescribed according to the active substance with its medicinal form and dosage in the electronic prescription. In addition, the doctor will also indicate the method of use and the duration of the admission", Liashko said.
Anyone may close the prescription yourself in any pharmacy registered in the health care system.
