Nobel Foundation withdraws invitation to ambassadors from countries involved in the war against Ukraine

On December 10 2023, the World's most prestigious award for excellence and research will be held in Sweden.

Earlier, the Nobel Foundation wanted to resume the practice of inviting ambassadors of Russia and Belarus to the Nobel Prize ceremony. However, Ukraine and several other countries objected, saying that such a decision would increase the sense of impunity of the Russian leadership. The reaction of the Swedish royal family was particularly strong. They told the king might not attend the ceremony because of his presence in the same room as the "such guests".

Thus, the Nobel Foundation has rescinded the invitation to the ambassadors of three countries that pose a threat to the civilized world: Russia, Belarus and Iran. So, the aggressors will not be at the Nobel Prize banquet in Stockholm. The BBC reports.

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a war against Ukraine, using its own and Belarusian territories for the attack. In the autumn of 2022, Russia began massively attacking Ukrainian cities with Iranian strike drones Shaheds. As of the summer of 2023, it was reported that Iran and Russia were producing drones in Russia.
