Nobody Believes Russia

Commentary by British general Sir Richard Shirreff on Russia's assurances about the introduction of military force from the central regions of Ukraine

As a result of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia on March 29 in Turkey, representatives of the aggressor country announced a decision to de-escalate the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. However, the "de-escalation" is so insignificant, and further military actions against Ukraine are so intense and aggressive that the ambiguity of any word of the Russian delegation is no longer in doubt.

General Richard Shirreff did not stand aside and expressed his authoritative opinion regarding the theatrical "de-escalation" of two tanks from Ukraine.

"This is almost certainly an admission that the attempt to advance in many operational areas has failed and most likely a harbinger of a concentration of forces elsewhere. I would not rule out some deception," commented Sir Shirreff.

In general, the position of the leadership of our country coincides with the opinion of the general.

"We don't trust anyone – not in any beautiful verbal constructions. There is a real situation on the battlefield. And now this is the main thing. We won't give anything away. And we will fight for every meter of our land, for every one of our people," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his address to the people on March 30.
