Norway to Finance 80 MW of Distributed Power Generation in Ukraine

Norway has committed to financing the installation of 80 MW of distributed power generation capacity in Ukraine

This initiative aims to enhance electricity and heat supply for residents in one of Ukraine's regions.

Agreement Details

An agreement has been concluded with grant funds from the Norwegian government and organizational support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). A manufacturing company will supply power-generating equipment that will add 80 MW to the Ukrainian power grid.

"This will help ensure additional generation of electricity and heat for the residents of one of the regions," the statement reads.

Background

Earlier, the official website of the Norwegian government announced the allocation of an additional 1.5 billion kroner (approximately 127 million euros) for Ukraine's energy needs. Part of this funding will be directed toward purchasing power generation equipment for the Naftogaz Group.

Norway's Aid to Ukraine

Recently, it was reported that Norway will provide Ukraine with a new aid package worth 500 million euros, with more than half of the amount earmarked for military assistance.

  • Military Support: Local media have indicated that the new aid package may include grenade launcher projectiles.
  • Previous Commitments: In April, reports emerged that Norway was planning a "significant" increase in aid to Ukraine.
