The EU Commissioner announced this for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Oliver Varhelyi.
"At EU foreign ministers meeting FAC for EU Commission today: EU continues to stand by Ukraine and its people, delivering assistance. And we started working on delivering an opinion on the basis of the application for membership for Ukraine. We will work as fast as we can," Oliver Varhelyi.
"The application for membership in the European Union was officially submitted. And exactly one week later, at the Versailles summit, the first debate of leaders on this issue took place. And at the end, there was a very clear signal for Ukraine: the EU will support Ukraine's free and democratic choice to determine its destiny ... The process started," president of the European Council Charles Michel.
