In the hospital of central Ukraine for 1 day, 3 kidney transplants were performed: 2 from a posthumous donor and 1 from a relative

A 29-year-old man who had been on hemodialysis since he was 21 received 2 kidneys from a posthumous donor. A 30-year-old woman who has spent the last 12 years on hemodialysis received a kidney from her father.

"Initially, specialists performed a posthumous transplant. Organ harvesting took place at Cherkasy regional hospital. For 12 hours, three teams of doctors worked in one operating room: specialists from the regional hospital and oncology dispensary, and doctors from the Kyiv clinic," said a representative of the Cherkasy regional oncology center, performed operations.

Roman Moraru-Burlescu, the chief physician of the Cherkasy regional center for oncology and urology, shared that the operation lasted about 12 hours each and prepared patients for transplantation for more than a day.
