Today, within the framework of the Parliamentary Assembly of Ukraine and Lithuania, a meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, took place in Kyiv. On behalf of the country, the president of Ukraine thanked Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen for the consistent and reliable support that Lithuania provides to Ukraine, defence and humanitarian assistance, and shelter to Ukrainians who were forced to flee the war.
"We are especially grateful for the strengthening of our army, for training missions, repair of damaged military equipment, medical assistance and rehabilitation of our military", Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The parties discussed the importance of the resolutions adopted by the Lithuanian Seimas regarding Ukraine and Russia, as well as Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen's staunch pro-Ukrainian position in lobbying Ukraine's interests. Representatives of the states agreed that the Russian terror on the energy infrastructure poses a threat not only to Ukraine but to the whole of Europe.
Therefore, Zelenskyy and Čmilytė-Nielsen emphasized the importance of Lithuanian assistance in the restoration of Ukraine, as well as the transfer of Russian funds frozen by sanctions for reparations to Ukraine.
The president and speaker of the Seimas raised the topics of bringing those responsible for the bloodshed in Ukraine to justice and the interaction of states on the path of Ukraine's European integration.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen with the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise II degree "for significant personal merits in strengthening interstate cooperation and support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine."
