According to the association Rivers of Ukraine, in 2020, the volume of river cargo transportation reached 15.8 million tons in 2021 — 20.6 million tons.
The Dnipro is the largest water artery in Ukraine. The traffic here is mainly construction materials, grains, and metallurgy products. From 2020 to 2021, the increase in cargo transportation increased by 27.7%, from 11.2 million to 14.4 million tons.

The increase in cargo transportation and the Southern Bug from 2020 to 2021 increased by 41.8%: from 0.5 to 0.7 million tons. As before, the Southern Bug serves for the transportation of grain crops.
“For the first time in a long time, the volume of freight traffic on Ukrainian rivers exceeded 20 million tons. Also, the result is the highest since 1994, when the cargo flow on the rivers of Ukraine amounted to 19.9 million tons,” said Dmytro Kozachenko, CEO of the Rivers of Ukraine association.
