The project of waste recycling clusters has already been developed: it has been presented by international experts – an international technical assistance project. APENA3. According to the project, 5 waste recycling clusters will be located in the Transcarpathia region. The plants will cover 6 districts of the region: Uzhgorod, Mukachevo, Khust, Tyachiv-Rakhiv and Berehovo districts. Sorting and processing workshops will be built in each cluster. The project's implementation is not expected until the war's end. The construction of the first sorting enterprise has already begun in the Berehovo district.
"One of the important components of the reform is the regional policy in this area, which will be determined based on the developed regional waste management plans. The Transcarpathian region, together with international experts, carried out tremendous work. I am sure that in the future, this will enable the region to become one of the leaders in implementing changes and attract investment to construct the necessary infrastructure for waste treatment," deputy Minister of environment Victoria Kireeva.
The project will use models of mechanical and biological treatment of 100% mixed solid household waste, anaerobic digestion of organic fractions or their composting, and production of refuse-derived fuel. The investment value of each cluster in Ukraine is $105-130 million.
