3 months and 5 days of the war, which Putin expected to crank out in 3 days. 30.000 killed Russian soldiers. The entire military elite was killed, and perhaps, those who attacked Ukraine on February 24 are no longer alive. Putin has not achieved a single military goal. However, negotiations with Kyiv are not included in the tyrant's plans.
On May 27, John Kirby summed up Putin's failure in a press briefing.
"He did not take away the sovereignty of Ukraine — on the contrary, he showed the Ukrainians how important independence is, and they fight for it every day. He did not capture the capital and did not behead the government. He did not capture any large city except Mariupol," John Kirby.
However, Putin and his entourage, apparently, don't count their soldiers.
"Putin can do the right thing right here and now: withdraw troops and sit down at the negotiating table with Zelenskyy and negotiate in good faith. Right now, there doesn't seem to be any hope for such negotiations," the Pentagon spokesman.
"Putin has not shown the slightest interest in a diplomatic settlement. He has shown that he is ready to continue the war in the Donbas: he continues to build up troops, pull together equipment, launch airstrikes in a smaller territory of Ukraine," John Kirby.
