"President Putin made a big mistake by starting a war against an independent sovereign state. He underestimated the strength of the Ukrainian people, the courage of the Ukrainian people, and the Armed Forces," stressed NATO GS.
Stoltenberg added that the Russian invading forces are meeting much more resistance than expected.
He noted the need to provide a response to Russia's actions against Ukraine, and therefore the Alliance has significantly increased support for Ukraine and increased the presence of troops in the eastern countries of NATO.
