Raspberry Business in Ukraine: Forecast and Development Outlook for 2025

Ukraine’s raspberry industry continues to evolve, driven by modernization, expanding export ambitions, and improved infrastructure

Although a significant surge in production volumes is not expected in 2025, the sector is poised for steady growth through enhanced processing capacity and increased export revenue.

Current State and Growth Prospects

Over the past decade, Ukraine has made notable strides in strengthening its raspberry production capabilities. According to Taras Bashtannyk, head of the Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association (UPOA), the country has steadily expanded its raw material base and invested in infrastructure development.

“One step back, two steps forward — Ukraine has been and continues to grow its raw material base. The number of freezing, sorting, and post-harvest processing facilities has increased tenfold compared to a decade ago,” Bashtannyk states.

Although rapid increases in production volumes are not anticipated for 2025, the focus on product quality and sales efficiency is expected to yield better financial outcomes for producers.

Export Potential and Market Competition

Ukraine’s raspberry sector competes with major European producers like Poland and Serbia. However, while Poland concentrates on fresh raspberry exports, Ukraine has an edge in the frozen berry segment — a market with growing demand in Western Europe, North America, and Canada.

The continued development of cold storage and logistics infrastructure positions Ukraine to capture a greater share of these markets.

“The profitability of raspberry farming will grow faster than the harvest volume,” Bashtannyk predicts. “This is due to rising selling prices and improved reliability of export channels.”

Key Takeaways for 2025

  • Steady growth in infrastructure and quality standards will drive profitability.

  • Frozen raspberries will remain Ukraine’s competitive export advantage.

  • Revenue is expected to rise through improved pricing and sales channels, despite stable production volumes.

  • Export markets in the EU, USA, and Canada represent strategic growth areas.

Conclusion

The Ukrainian raspberry industry is transitioning from volume-driven growth to a value-oriented strategy. In 2025, investments in processing, quality, and reliable trade partnerships are expected to boost export income and stabilize producer margins, setting the stage for long-term sustainability.
