Ratification of Criminal Responsibility for the Genocide of Ukrainians

On April 27, PACE voted for the arrest of Putin and Lukashenko for the deportation of Ukrainians to Russia

Today, 27 countries participating in the Parliamentary Assembly of Europe voted for a resolution guaranteeing the ICC's arrest of Putin/Lvova-Belova and their collaborator Lukashenлщ for the deportation of Ukrainians to Russia. According to the resolution, the deportation of Ukrainians is a form of genocide, so everyone involved must bear criminal responsibility for this. It was the Ukrainian MP who introduced the clause about genocide into the resolution, and PACE supported it. Previously, the guarantees of arresting the criminal Russian-Belarusian troika were valid only on the territory of countries that ratified the Rome Statute. And the voting of PACE participants expands the geography of criminal liability.

Only one country voted against Norway. Germany, Armenia, Türkiye and Cyprus held out.

According to data, as of the end of December 2022, more than 2.8 million Ukrainians were forcibly taken to Russia.
