Ukrainian producers sold nearly 10,000 tons of ice cream to international markets, marking a 44% increase from the previous year and setting a new export record since Ukraine's independence. Revenue from these exports surged by 67% to exceed $32 million.
In the first quarter of 2024 alone, Ukraine exported 2,000 tons of ice cream, a quarter more than the same period last year, generating $7 million in revenue.
Leading Importers of Ukrainian Ice Cream:
- Moldova: 2,301 tons
- Germany: 1,909 tons
- Poland: 1,873 tons
- Israel: 963 tons
- Lithuania: 509 tons
- Czech Republic: 425 tons
The European Union was the largest market, accounting for $19 million in revenue—60% of the total export earnings. Ukrainian ice cream also reached diverse markets such as the USA, China, the UAE, Iraq, Canada, and even the Ivory Coast and Gambia, further solidifying Ukraine’s position in the global ice cream market.
Significant revenue in the first quarter of 2024 also came from Germany, Poland, and Moldova, which together accounted for about 60% of the total.
The Ukrainian Agricultural Export Association highlights the need for continued development of this sector, suggesting expansion into traditional importing countries like Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore. They emphasize that managing the seasonality of production and consumption by targeting buyers across different regions can help stabilize foreign currency inflows.
