Residence Permit in New Zealand for Ukrainian Refugees

The state will accept applications for asylum for those from whom the war has taken everything

On August 26, New Zealand immigration minister Andrew Little announced that the state would continue to grant residence permits to those Ukrainians who found protection from war in their country. Special Ukraine Policy began to operate last year, and since the war is still going on and many Ukrainians still have nowhere to return, the New Zealand government decided to extend these visas. Applications will be accepted until March 15, 2024, and the received visa allows its holder to stay in New Zealand for another year.

“Many of those who sought safety here in New Zealand would never have anticipated being here long term, but as war continues we have a humanitarian obligation to provide certainty to them,” Andrew Little.

To obtain a residence permit, a Ukrainian must undergo a medical examination and personal identification and pay a registration fee of $708.
