Restart of the Work of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy assures of the suitability of work of anti-corruption institutions and correct way of re-establishment of CCU

On April 15, 2021, the parliament of Ukraine passed a bill aimed at improving the activities of the CCU.

According to the government portal, the purpose of the bill is to solve the following tasks:

  • to invest.com/investing-in-ukraine/service-for-investors/promote-your-business/" rel="dofollow">promote the proper realization of the rights of citizens of Ukraine to access to constitutional justice (both through a direct appeal with a constitutional complaint and by initiating constitutional petitions and appeals by authorized subjects);
  • to ensure the completeness and consistency of the legislation governing the organization and operation of the Court, the grounds and procedure for applying to it, as well as the procedure for consideration by the Court of cases, the implementation of its decisions;
  • to improve procedural and procedural aspects of CCU activity.

This version of the document is currently being considered by the Venice Commission.

"Regarding the Constitutional Court. There will be a reset of the Constitutional Court as soon as the composition of the judges of the Constitutional Court is completely renewed. We expected representatives from the Verkhovna Rada, but this did not happen. This will become mandatory in the coming weeks, and a law on the Constitutional Court will be passed. Now the process is underway," Zelenskyy said.
