German media Handelsblatt published a statement by Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger about the future of Panther battle tanks in Ukraine. According to Papperger, today the military concern is at the stage of negotiations with Kyiv regarding the supply of Panther to serve the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"We are negotiating with Kyiv to export Panther," Armin Papperger.
The tanks will be built in Germany or Hungary and, under optimal conditions, delivery could be possible in 15-18 months. This tank is considered the most powerful of the existing ones and Ukraine may become the first country to purchase this system. Our army is also interested in using the Lynx infantry fighting vehicle.
Moreover, Rheinmetall is considering building its own plant in Ukraine. The details of Armin Papperger's negotiations with Kyiv and the federal government of Germany are still unknown.
