The order, valued at around €9 million, was placed during the fourth quarter of 2024.
Under the agreement, Rheinmetall will deliver several tens of thousands of different types of 155mm charge modules. Delivery is slated for January 2025. These charges are integral to modern artillery operations, where shells and propellant charges are loaded separately to achieve varying firing ranges.
“By providing large-scale deliveries and support services to Ukraine, Rheinmetall has emerged as a key partner to the country’s defense industry in its efforts to repel Russian aggression,” the company’s statement emphasized.
During the 2024 Ukraine Reconstruction Conference in Berlin, Rheinmetall and Ukraine signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at deepening strategic cooperation. The agreement will facilitate identifying and developing additional areas of collaboration, potentially including the production of artillery ammunition and the manufacturing and supply of Lynx infantry fighting vehicles.
This development comes shortly after Rheinmetall revealed it had secured another contract, financed by the German government, for 20 additional Marder infantry fighting vehicles slated for delivery to Ukraine in the first half of 2025.
Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced during a visit to Kyiv that upcoming German military support for Ukraine would include the sixth IRIS-T air defense system, Patriot launchers, and Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, all expected to arrive by December.
