Russians Playing With Radiation

Occupiers stole radiation sources and nuclear fuel samples from Chernobyl

The Chernobyl nuclear power plant is notorious in the world. Every year the station was recalled in the nearest countries and honored the liquidators of the tragedy of 1986. In 2022, the station again began to talk every day because the Russian military entered the territory of the nuclear power plant. The Russian side not only took the station workers hostage but also raised radioactive dust with tanks.

The moment Chernobyl came under Ukrainian control again, the danger seemed over. But in the course of detecting the crimes and establishing security on the station, it turned out that the Russians are playing with death.

The occupants broke into the ionizing radiation source vault, which contained samples of radioactive solutions and calibration sources. The Russian military stole and damaged 133 sources of ionizing radiation with the activity of approximately 7 million Beckerels — 700 kg of radioactive waste with the presence of beta- and gamma-rays.

"Even a small part of this activity is fatal in unprofessional and uncontrolled handling of it," the state agency of Ukraine for the management of the exclusion zone reports.

The whereabouts of the stolen substances are unknown at the moment, as is the unknown what to expect from Putin and his army, which does not understand that radiation has no territorial boundaries.
