“Sea Breeze Exercise” Started in the UK

18 countries are preparing in a united front to carry out mine action in the Black sea and restore safe navigation after the victory of Ukraine

On June 27, the opening ceremony of the annual international naval exercises Sea breeze took place in Glasgow. From 1997 to 2021, these exercises took place in the Ukrainian Black sea. In 2022, the exercises did not take place due to the war, and this year they were moved to the UK.

The main goal of the exercises is international readiness for the liberation of the Black sea from Russian mines and the restoration of safe navigation in the waters of Ukraine.

"The main focus is on training the headquarters of the mine action tactical group for planning and conducting mine action (operations) in accordance with NATO standards and procedures, using samples of weapons and military equipment that the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received from partner countries," Navy AFU.

As part of the Sea breeze, the Ukrainian Sandown-class Cherkasy and Chernihiv anti-mine ships, underwater demining teams and aquatic mine-clearing drones will be prepared for tactical actions to clean up the Ukrainian seas after the victory.
