War through the eyes of animals is an anthology film. His idea belongs to the Ukrainian director Myroslav Slaboshpytskyi. He talks from the screens about the condition and suffering of animals from people's actions. There are already 8 parts of the film, Sean Penn will become an actor in the final, 9th part. The Ukrainian director says that he met Sean Penn in Cannes, they didn't talk about cinema – they discussed the war. In addition, the American actor has already come to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion and supports Kyiv. Therefore, when Myroslav Slaboshpytskyi wrote the script for the new film, he saw Penn in the title role. So it happened.
The idea of the 9th part of the film War through the eyes of animals lies in the reflection of what happens to nature during human aggression.
"During Russia's war against Ukraine, such horror occurs, so many people die that this aspect, with the death of animals, remains on the periphery. International environmental organizations are very audible when it is necessary to fight with some corporations, but now they are not very audible. And in fact, it is impossible to even imagine how many wild and domestic animals died," says the director Slaboshpytskyi.
Filming is due to take place this summer in Ukraine (Kyiv) and America (Los Angeles). Ukrainian film companies Sota Cinema Group and Kleos Art and producers from Ukraine Oleh Kohan and Oleksii Makukhin will create a movie.
The fact that such a famous actor will play a major role in the Ukrainian film shows that the topic of Ukrainian ecocide worries not only locals.
