Slovak Transport Union Activists Block Major Crossing Point with Ukraine

On December 11, at 4:10 p.m., members of the Slovak transporters’ union initiated a blockade at the Vyshnye Nemetske border checkpoint, halting the entry of cargo vehicles from Ukraine

This development was reported by the State Border Service of Ukraine on Facebook.

The blockade specifically targets trucks traveling from Ukraine to Slovakia. As of now, there is no restriction on trucks departing from Slovakia. The passage of passenger cars and buses continues to operate normally.

At present, there is a significant backlog of traffic, with 1,263 trucks queued in the electronic system for departure to Slovakia at the Uzhgorod checkpoint, which is adjacent to Slovakia's Vyshnye Nemetske checkpoint.

This is not the first instance of such a blockade by Slovak carriers. They have previously disrupted the movement of trucks across the border, though their actions were intermittent.
