This support aims to enhance energy supply in the country amidst ongoing conflict.
According to the Swedish government's press release, the funds will be used to install two gas turbines for electricity production, which will be safeguarded to reduce the risks of Russian attacks. The World Bank estimates that the project will generate enough electricity to power approximately 185,000 people, marking Sweden's largest contribution to Ukraine’s energy supply so far.
The Swedish Agency for International Development and Cooperation will oversee the project in collaboration with Ukraine and international financial institutions. The modern energy facility is expected to be fully operational by 2025.
