Technical Hemp Harvested in Chernihiv Region: 250 Tons Expected

Agrotrade Group expands industrial hemp production for food, medicine and eco-materials

Harvest Results in Chernihiv Region

The Agrotrade group of enterprises has begun harvesting technical hemp in the Chernihiv region. From 333 hectares, the company expects to collect about 250 tons of hemp seeds.

Farmers in the region are achieving yields of 800–1,000 kilograms per hectare, which confirms the adaptability of hemp to local soils and modern cultivation techniques.

“We started with smaller areas — about 230 hectares. Over time, we studied the use of herbicides and planting density. Today we have a clear understanding of how to achieve stable and high results,”
Vyacheslav Taran, Chief Technologist of Agrotrade.

Processing and Use

The harvested seeds will be processed into hemp oil and medical products, while hemp stalks (trust) will be used to:

  • produce eco-friendly insulation materials;

  • weave ropes and textiles;

  • support the growing demand for sustainable building materials.

Agrotrade sells hemp seeds both to Ukrainian processors and for export markets, taking advantage of increasing global demand for hemp-based products.

Market and Investment Outlook

Industrial hemp is becoming a promising agricultural investment vector in Ukraine due to its:

  • High demand in food (craft oils, organic nutrition).

  • Pharmaceutical applications (hemp oil-based medicines).

  • Eco-construction potential (insulation, bio-materials).

  • Export opportunities amid growing interest in sustainable products in the EU and beyond.

The successful harvest in Chernihiv demonstrates Ukraine’s potential to become a regional leader in hemp cultivation and processing, particularly as investors look for sustainable, high-value crops.
