Chef Yevhen Klopotenko is a well-known cultural and business figure in Ukraine, as he rehabilitated authentic Ukrainian cooking from domestic products, rethought it in a modern way and popularized it among Ukrainians. Yevhen himself creates recipes and prepares original dishes in his restaurant, modernizes the school food system, and writes books.
The American publisher house will publish 1 of Klopotenko's recipe books and pay him 200.000. This is a record among royalties for foreign authors. The previous highest fee for a book by a non-American author was $140.000, which is 30% less than Yevhen will receive.
There are no details about the book yet, but as Klopotenko's business partner reported, the book is scheduled to be released in the spring of this year. So far, the chef has written 5 books, and Seduction by food with Ukrainian taste is a bestseller on the international stage. It has already been republished several times in English and German and is currently being translated into Spanish and Polish.
Remarkable fact: it was Yevhen Klopotenko who initiated the inclusion of borscht as a Ukrainian intangible heritage of UNESCO.
