A delegation from Italy led by the minister of foreign affairs Luigi Di Maio arrived in Ukraine with an unexpected visit. It is known that the minister and his team have already visited several cities of the Kyiv region destroyed by the war. Including Irpin.
"Death and cruelty. Cities destroyed, razed: this is the truth. The war is real, look at these pictures. Whoever minimizes is complicit in the massacre. We could not ignore the cry of pain of courageous people who have not given up on defending themselves and defending us. Our support for the people of Kyiv, for this "European resistance", continues. And today, I am here in Ukraine to bring the support of our country. This terrible war must be stopped immediately, we must seek peace with all our strength", Luigi Di Maio.
The minister emphasized that his country supports Ukraine and is ready to provide it with all necessary assistance.
"Ukrainians protect not only themselves but also the freedom of the whole of Europe. We have to choose which side to take, and the Italian government has decided to take the side of Ukraine... We hope that nothing will change and that we will continue to support this country in all possible ways because this is now the frontier of Europe," he said.
A meeting was held with president Volodymyr Zelenskyy and minister of foreign affairs Dmytro Kuleba. Results will be announced later.
