On May 14, Emmanuel Macron, in an interview with the Opinion newspaper, said that geopolitically, Russia lost the war against Ukraine and began to turn into a vassal of China.
"De facto, it has entered a form of subservience with regards to China and has lost its access to the Baltic, which was critical, because it prompted the decision by Sweden and Finland to join Nato," Emmanuel Macron.
The president stressed that the participation of Western states in the final defeat of Russia is a strategic task.
"Let's be clear, Russia should not win this war militarily. Therefore, it depends on us how to help the Ukrainians in their counteroffensive and prepare security guarantees issues at the inevitable negotiations," Emmanuel Macron.
The head of France, in a joint statement with Volodymyr Zelensky, noted that European states should create conditions for the long-term security of Ukraine and Europe on the basis of a wise distribution of forces and priorities.
"I have always said that in the end, the European security architecture must fully protect Ukraine. But it must also include non-confrontation with Russia and restoring a sustainable balance of power. But there are still many steps to be taken before we get there."
