The First “Abrams” Will Be in Ukraine in a Couple of Days

Joe Biden said that this coming week, Ukraine will receive the first "Abrams", and in future, possibly, ATACMS

On September 22, during Washington talks between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Joe Biden, the US president reported that the first Abrams were already on their way to Ukraine. In January 2023, president Biden announced the United States' intention to provide Ukraine with 31 Abrams battle tanks, and on September 25, 2023, the first of them will be delivered to Ukraine. The president also named some components of a new military assistance package for Ukraine with an emphasis on air defence.

"Today I approved the next tranche of the US security assistance to Ukraine, including more artillery, more ammunition, more anti-tank weapons, and next week the first US Abrams tanks will be delivered to Ukraine," Joe Biden.

"We are also focused on strengthening Ukraine's air defence capabilities to protect the critical infrastructure that provides warmth and light during the coldest and darkest days of the year."

Biden also told Zelenskyy that the United States is ready to provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with several long-range ATACMS missiles. Anonymous NBC informants related to the agreement did not indicate the missiles' delivery date or whether the United States would publicly announce the provision of these long-range weapons.
