It is planned that the train will run between the cities once a month. Such a connection significantly reduces logistics costs for enterprises, because the road takes almost half the time than shipping by sea.
"The transport connection between East and West has always been and is an important system of activity for the economies of all countries. The national railway service Ukrzaliznytsia is actively involved in the development of such communication and develops new routes for the delivery of goods on the route China-Europe, because the transit opportunities of our country have a strong potential for growth," noted in the Ukrzaliznytsia press service.
Ukrzaliznytsia is a state-owned joint-stock company of rail transport in Ukraine, a monopoly that controls the vast majority of the railroad transportation in the country.
In total, since the beginning of the year to Ukraine has arrived 13 container trains from China, as well as transit through Ukraine followed 67 Chinese trains.
Direct container trains from China to Ukraine began running from June 2020, Railway Supply magazine reported, Railinsider resourse.
"The Guangzhou-Odesa project was initiated and organized by the Ukrainian logistics company UNI-LAMAN GROUP with the help of representatives of the Ukrainian chamber of commerce and industry in Guangdong Province and the consulate general of Ukraine in Guangzhou Province," said Anastasiia Kotovska, assistant head of UNI-LAMAN GROUP to Odesa News.
As Odesa News reported, on May 29 in China there was a solemn ceremony of departure of the freight train on the route Guangzhou-Odesa. "There has never been anything like it in the railway communication of Ukraine," wrote the consulate general of Ukraine in Guangzhou.
