Today, in the town of Lyman, Donetsk region, began the exhumation of a mass grave of Ukrainians who died from the hands of the Russian army. The tomb is divided into 2 territories: about 200 civilians were buried in separate graves, and the military – in a mass grave.
"Law enforcement officers received information about the mass grave in Lyman from residents. The civilians were buried in single graves, the military – in a trench 40 m long. According to the witness, he buried about 20 Ukrainian defenders here on the orders of the Russian invaders. Among the dead is also a family with 2 small children," the head of the National police of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko.
According to Klymenko, only part of the graves have plaques with the names of the victims: most of them can be identified only when selecting biological material. The situation is complicated by the fact that literally not bodies were buried through the grave, but packages with decaying bones.
Since September 29, 87 separate bodies of Ukrainians have been found in the Donetsk region's liberated settlements, most with signs of torture and violent death. 38 of them have already been identified. The cause of death of many of them is gunshot and shrapnel wounds.
