The shortage of vaccines and medicines in Ukraine and around the world has demonstrated the need to create its own laboratory in Ukraine.
"Today, the whole world is waiting in line for a vaccine, and it is becoming clear that Ukraine needs to have its own base for developing vaccines. This is a strategic issue, as the construction of modern infrastructure on world standards will allow us to restore scientific potential and develop drugs to protect against various diseases," has said Denys Shmygal.
This will allow Ukrainian medicine to effectively deal with a large number of medical threats, will enable the creation of local medicines, will reduce dependence on global manufacturers and problems with the logistics of medicines. It will increase the prestige of the medical and scientific profession and create new places and new opportunities for the development of research centers.
"At the same time, we have a plan to create an open scientific space at the institute, which will unite all scientists to conduct research," said Viktor Lyashko.
Following the meeting, the prime minister stressed the need to develop infrastructure in a short period of time and identify ways to finance the project to create world-class institutions. As for now, the state budget for this year includes 100 million hryvnias, which will be used for the development of this project.
