On the 23rd of August was held a meeting of Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Petteri Orpo. During the press conference, they considered the basic needs of Ukraine and Finland's ability to help with this. In particular, it was about defence cooperation.
"Ukraine, the Ukrainian people have become an inspiration for all of us. Finland continues its firm, unwavering support for Ukraine. Finland strongly condemned Russian aggression and invasion of Ukraine from the very beginning. This is an absolute violation of the law. The Russian invasion of Ukraine is an attack on the entire security order in Europe. We call on Russia to immediately cease hostilities and remove its troops from Ukraine," Petteri Orpo.
In addition, Orpo announced the provision of a new military aid package to Kyiv. This will be the 18th aid package since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The official representative of the Finnish authorities said that his country will provide the armed forces of Ukraine with heavy weapons and ammunition. He believes the Ukrainian army now needs artillery to defend and return its territories.
In general, since the beginning of the war, Finland has sent assistance to Ukraine for €1.7 billion, €1.2 billion for military needs.
