On May 17, the Russian armed forces launched a missile attack on a small village in the Chernihiv region. The total area of a residential settlement is only 8 km². Only one enemy missile destroyed the lives and homes of half of the villagers.
Official Ukrainian sources reported 8 dead and 17 wounded immediately after the incident. However, rescue work continued, and all prepared Ukrainians that the numbers could change.
Rescue work ended a week later. On May 23, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy personally reported the horrific news. According to his statement, the number of victims increased by 79.
"Today, we finished the work on the Desna. Unfortunately, the statistics are as follows: today, on the Desna under the rubble of 87 victims. 87 corpses, victims, killed — without these people, there will already be the future of Ukraine," said the head of state.
It should be noted that despite the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of the Chernihiv region, the occupiers continue to attack the border zones. In recent days, the activity of Russian soldiers has increased. They are shelling the border villages with multiple weapons and missiles.
